| Abstract Scope |
The high-temperature deformation behavior of a Ti-Al-V-Fe alloy with an initial β-Ti microstructure was studied in the α + β phase region through Gleeble compression tests (554–781 °C, 1–0.001 s⁻¹, 0.6 strain). Dilatometry revealed that the ω phase, formed during quenching, promotes α nucleation within β during heating. At low strain rates, ω dissolves before deformation; at high strain rates, residual ω strengthens the alloy, raising peak stress. Flow curves appear highly sensitive to strain rate and temperature, showing softening due to barreling. No dynamic phase transformation was evidenced, as α content after deformation matched that of thermally exposed, undeformed samples. Microstructural analysis showed elongated β grains and fragmented α in the specimen center. |
