Abstract Scope |
In order to comply with government requirements, Hillside had to reduce GTC stacks Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) emissions below 0.5 mg/Nm3 by end of March 2025.
In Early 2023, Hillside entrusted Fives with the modification of its 5 GTCs with the integration of the Cascade alumina feed system and the conversion of VIBRAIR filters pocket bags into extended surface bags in order to reduce HF emissions by 30 to 50%.
In April 2024, a first Cascade system was started on which tests were carried out successfully with an encouraging average HF around 0.3 mg/Nm3.
End of January 2025, all 5 GTCs were completed and commissioned with Cascade alumina feeding systems and Micronics PrimaflowTM StarbagsTM & StarcagesTM.
In February 2025, performance tests were successfully achieved reducing HF stack emissions to 0.5 mg/Nm3.
This paper is describing the technical solutions implemented to reduce HF emissions, the challenges faced as well as performances achieved. |
