| Abstract Scope |
In recent years, the evolution toward vehicle electrification and the increasing demand for precision in heat treated high-strength steel products have required tighter control of strength, microstructure, and dimensional accuracy during manufacturing. To address this challenge, this study proposes a hybrid simulation framework that integrates finite element method (FEM) analysis with multi-agent simulation, in which individual workpieces are modeled as interacting agents within a production system. The proposed approach enables the prediction of manufacturing quality and quality fluctuations in large-scale production environments based on a limited number of detailed heat-treatment simulations. The applicability of the framework is demonstrated through a combined machining and heat-treatment process for high-strength steel components. The simulation results reveal that quality fluctuations are governed by directional mismatches between successive manufacturing processes, including misalignment among machining directions, heat-treatment loading orientations, and microstructural anisotropy. |
