| Abstract Scope |
We aim to develop a novel, laminated multilayer thermal barrier coating demonstrating low thermal conductivity, high durability, stability at 1800°C, and Schottky diode barriers at laminate interfaces. This material will be composed of alternating Gadolinium Zirconate (GZO) and Gadolinium Aluminum Perovskite (GAP) laminates formed via tape-casting and conventionally sintered. By combining the low thermal conductivity of GAP, the Schottky diode interface established by co-sintering GAP and GZO, these laminates will provide multi-modal resistance to thermal diffusion while achieving the durability necessary for hypersonic applications. We will present the processing optimization, microstructural characterization, and thermal properties of these materials which will be characterized via laser-flash analysis, XRD, and SEM imaging. |
