Abstract Scope |
Anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) is a pollution-free technology for producing green hydrogen, and bipolar plates are an important component of AEMWE. The key to determining the life of bipolar plates is the corrosion resistance of the coating on their surface under actual working conditions. Nickel, as a metal with a reasonable price and good corrosion resistance, is considered to be a good coating material and is currently the main candidate material for AEMWE bipolar plates. Plating of Nickel on stainless steel can ensure the mechanical strength of the bipolar plate and reduce production costs. In order to improve the durability of bipolar plates, we evaluated three nickel plating processes and nickel plating corrosion evaluations used in AEMWE bipolar plates, and conducted constant potential tests simulating actual operation. The current research provides some fundamental methods and standards to evaluate on the corrosion resistance of bipolar materials used in AEMWE. |
