Abstract Scope |
This study examines the separation of zirconium Zr(IV) and yttrium Y(III) from a sulfuric acid solution using a TVEX-TBP adsorbent. The sorption process was influenced by factors like initial metal ion concentration, TVEX-TBP weight, contact time, and temperature. The optimal sorption conditions were 100 mg/L, 0.1 g, and 60 minutes. The study found that increasing initial metal ion concentrations decreased the sorption efficiency of the metal ions. The maximum sorption capacities were 15 mg/g and 10 mg/g, respectively. The results showed that TVEX-TBP recovers zirconium more preferentially than yttrium from acidic sulfuric acid medium. The TVEX/TBP/sulfuric system could be applied for industrial applications, such as leaching dental zirconia waste powder. The system proved efficient in recycling and separating zirconium and yttrium from the leachate solution using chromatographic columns packed with TVEX-TBP. |
