Abstract Scope |
Reducing steel slag generation is a crucial objective for the sustainability of steel industry. One of the most effective strategies to minimize slag is through internal recycling within the iron and steel processes. However, the presence of phosphorus poses a constraint. Therefore, this study developed a method to rapidly remove P from molten slag through reduction after tapping. To achieve efficient reduction at relatively low temperatures and to delay the slag solidification, various fluxes were tested at 1450 °C-1550 °C. A promising outcome showed after a 30-min reduction, approximately 85% of P was removed. The reduced hot slag primarily consisted of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 with high basicity, which could be directly reused. |
