Abstract Scope In the current study, equiatomic medium-entropy alloys are prepared using vacuum arc melting. The MEAs were subjected to X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and Vickers hardness tests to evaluate their phase analysis, microstructure, and microhardness. As-melted, both MEA alloys consist of a FCC solid-solution phase with an interdendritic microstructure. As-melted MEAs were subjected to a homogenization heat treatment process. Heat-treated MEAs are evaluated for their phase analysis, microstructure, and microhardness. Corrosion tests were conducted in molten MgCl2–KCl at 600℃ under an inert atmosphere. This study focuses on evaluating the high-temperature corrosion resistance in comparison with the SS321 alloy. This research demonstrates that arc-melted MEAs exhibit better corrosion resistance compared to SS321 alloy, making it a promising candidate for Concentrated Solar Power plant applications.
