| Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the fatigue performance of specimens fabricated by selective laser melting and subjected to different post-processing treatments. The fatigue characteristics of specimens treated with finishing technologies and surface plastic deformation methods were evaluated and compared against as-built specimens.
Surface layer characterization revealed the underlying mechanisms responsible for fatigue limit enhancement exceeding 50% in post-processed specimens based on microstructural characteristics induced by the post-processing treatments.
A fatigue life prediction model incorporating surface condition effects, stress concentration factors, applied loading conditions, and load variability was employed to assess the safety margins of high-pressure compressor blades. The results demonstrate significant potential for extending component service life through appropriate post-processing strategies, providing valuable insights for critical gas turbine engine components |
