| Abstract Scope |
Ni–Mn–Sn Heusler alloys have attracted considerable interest owing to their tunable magnetic properties, which can be tailored through variations in composition and processing conditions. In this study, Ni₅₀Mn₃₇Sn₁₃ Heusler alloy is fabricated by powder metallurgy to investigate the effects of processing parameters on microstructure and phase constitution, along with heating behavior under an alternating magnetic field. A Taguchi L9 experimental design is employed to systematically investigate the effects of process parameters. The fabricated samples are characterized using density measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential scanning calorimetry/thermogravimetric analysis (DSC/TGA) to determine the Curie temperature. The heating performance is evaluated using a custom-built magnetic induction heating apparatus, and the specific absorption rate (SAR) is determined. The relationships between processing parameters, microstructure, Curie temperature, and heating performance will be established to assess the suitability of Ni₅₀Mn₃₇Sn₁₃ alloy for magnetic hyperthermia applications. |
