| Abstract Scope |
Mouse digit tip regeneration provides a unique model for studying how tissue architecture and mechanical properties evolve during functional tissue restoration. Using multiscale imaging, nanomechanical characterization, and finite element modeling, we investigated the regeneration of mouse digit tips following amputation. Results revealed a temporal mismatch between morphological restoration and mechanical maturation, with native-like mechanical organization emerging only after anatomical continuity was re-established. Stress analyses further showed that transient regenerative morphologies help protect immature tissues from excessive mechanical loading. These findings provide new insight into the interplay between tissue architecture, matrix mechanics, and functional recovery, offering design principles for bio-inspired regenerative strategies. |
