Abstract Scope |
The aluminum die casting process is the most common way to make castings as it works well to produce a large number of castings. Unfortunately, parameters and non-standard operations can cause many kinds of defects.
This work has been carried out at a Die Foundry where flatness deviations of a specific detail, a cap to the telecom industry, has been analyzed. The analysis has considered both external and internal factors in the foundry process. The results show that the cooling has a significant impact on the flatness of the detail.
A series of tests were made focused on the cooling of the detail and the results showed that details chilled in a fixture may well solve the problem of flatness deviations. |
