| Abstract Scope |
In different components, Notch, Dwell, Low and High cycle fatigue can all be life limiting, and in real components R-ratio can also be critical. It is not necessarily the case the performance in idealised fatigue testing correlates strongly to in service performance, and therefore there is a necessity to validate initial testing results in novel alloys and microstructures in more complex conditions. This then leads to a need to understand how these testing conditions are inter-related to the volume of material samples, the critical microstructural features and the deformation mechanisms in operation. In this talk we will explore how these issues impact upon the development of improved titanium alloys for jet engines. |
