Abstract Scope |
An Innovative proprietary cored wire feedstock was successfully designed and fabricated to reactively produce NbC reinforced Ni alloy composite during thermal spray, weld overlay cladding or laser cladding. SEM-EDS analysis confirmed the formation of fine NbC (< 5 micrometers) within the Ni-Cr alloy cladding. Wear test results revealed excellent performance in comparison to conventional thermal spray WC-Co coatings. This cladding can be used in power plant, pulp and paper, oil and gas, agriculture, metals and mining applications for corrosion, wear, erosion and toughness properties. Also, this material can be utilized to print or fabricate components via Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing or Laser Additive processes. |
