| Abstract Scope |
Composite materials have been used since around 7000 BC and remain widely applied due to their versatility and ability to combine desirable properties from different materials. Defined by the combination of two or more constituents of distinct natures, composites exhibit properties that are superior or intermediate to those of their individual components. Among them, polymer matrix composites, particularly epoxy-based systems, stand out because of their low density, high mechanical strength, and good chemical resistance, which make them highly researched and broadly used. Despite these advantages, many composite materials are not environmentally friendly, contributing to environmental degradation and energy-related challenges. In response to these concerns, this study focuses on the development of epoxy-based composites reinforced with high-density fiberboard (HDF) waste. The mechanical strength of these composites is evaluated with the aim of providing a suitable and sustainable destination for this residue while simultaneously producing a more environmentally responsible composite material. |
