| Abstract Scope |
Three TRIP-assisted martensitic steels with identical composition undergo different heat treatments, resulting in distinct microstructures with variations in phase constitution and microstructural morphologies. Using in-situ tensile testing, digital image correlation (DIC) for strain measurements, and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) scans, we investigate how heat treatment-induced microstructural changes influence strain localization. Our systematic study of different phases, their interactions and transformations reveal the relationships between microstructural features and material performance. These findings demonstrate how heat treatment can be strategically used to control deformation behavior, offering potential for optimizing material performance in structural applications. |
