| Abstract Scope |
Dwell fatigue in titanium alloys is a critical factor limiting the service life of aircraft engines. Key parameters such as phase morphology, grain boundaries, and crystallographic texture play pivotal roles in the nucleation and propagation of dwell fatigue cracks in these alloys. In this study, we examine the behavior of the early slip and propagation in the α / β laths of Ti-6246 during insitu-dwell fatigue testing and bending creep tests. DIC analysis is done to track the compression and tension regions during the bending creep test at different temperatures. TEM analysis is done to understand the interaction of the slip with the α / β interface. The effect of secondary a laths present in the β regions and adjacent hard grain on the propagation of slip during dwell fatigue and bending creep tests are studied. |
