| Abstract Scope |
Additive manufacturing of ceramic-polymer composites offers the ability to produce neutron radiation shields with customizable geometries and compositions. This is conventionally done via filament extrusion methods. However, producing and extruding highly filled filaments is challenging, limiting ceramic loading and shielding performance. In contrast, powder bed fusion prints composites directly from powder blends, simplifying fabrication while enabling higher loadings of ceramic. In this study, zirconium diboride and nylon 12 powders are mixed, printed via powder bed fusion, and evaluated as neutron radiation shields. |
