| Abstract Scope |
Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) is used to produce aluminum–titanium laminated composites, but strain partitioning between layers under complex loading conditions is not yet well understood. In this work, three-point bending combined with digital image correlation (DIC) is used to map strain distribution across the layered structure. Post-ARB annealing is used to soften the Ti layers and improve co-deformation, but it also promotes interfacial Al₃Ti formation that may reduce interface integrity. CALPHAD-based thermodynamic calculations are used to examine intermetallic formation tendencies across different alloy combinations. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) are used to characterize microstructure and interface evolution. The results relate strain localization to interface features and phase distribution, providing insight into processing and heat treatment. |
