Abstract Scope |
Electrochemical energy storage systems (batteries) are ubiquitous in our modern lives. While batteries often appear as black boxes, the specific redox active materials which govern their function can be diverse and complicated. Many of today's high functioning batteries are sourced from elements which are undesirable from the perspective of sustainability and access of supply. This presentation will highlight specific progress and opportunities toward more sustainable future batteries through materials design. Mechanistic understanding and insight towards structure-function relationships gained through in-situ and operando characterization will be highlighted. |
