| Abstract Scope |
Cast CrFeCoNi-based high-entropy alloys with Si additions ranging from 0 to 9 at% were prepared to investigate the effect of Si content on microstructure and tensile properties in the as-cast condition. Microstructural characterization was carried out using optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction, and tensile tests were performed to evaluate yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation. At low Si contents, microstructural analysis revealed that Si and Ni tended to segregate in the final solidification regions, while XRD results confirmed the presence of a single FCC phase. The yield strength decreased with increasing Si content up to approximately 3 at%, despite the absence of detectable phase changes. With further Si addition, the yield strength exhibited an increasing trend. These results demonstrate a non-monotonic dependence of mechanical properties on Si content and indicate that the initial degradation in yield strength cannot be directly correlated with macroscopic phase constitution. |
