Abstract Scope |
The loss of ductility is the general challenge in high-entropy alloys, limiting the engineering applications. The eutectic AlCoCrFeNiV high-entropy alloys make up for the ductility limits compared to single-phase high-entropy alloys. The ductility enhancement is verified via the hierarchical strengthening mechanism to avoid the loss of ductility caused by short-term hardening. This work conducts tensile and fatigue tests to observe the strain-hardening capability and activation mechanisms dedicated to extremely high strength with excellent ductility. The multi-scale characterization method explores the structural heterogeneity, the precipitates and phase concentration modification, and the crystal structure regulation helps achieve an ideal high-strength ductility. V modifies the precipitation formation for high strength. This study verifies the addition of V-strengthening effects, setting an example for the alloying design in heterogeneous metals in nuclear and aerospace applications. |
