Abstract Scope |
This work compares microstructure of four as processed (AP) and heat treated (HT) MoNbTi based refractory MPEAs with (Zr, V, Cr) additions. Microstructures were characterized through XRD and TEM before and after HT. Alloys were irradiated to 1MeV Kr in-situ up to 10dpa at room temperature and 500°C. Previously, we reported that AP alloys showed BCC, HCP, Laves and V-Zr phases which were prone to twin distortion, amorphization and cavity formation. HT resulted in dissolution of most of intermetallic phases and stabilized BCC solid solutions along with Ti rich precipitates, Ti-Zr phase or Ti-V phase depending on alloys’ composition. This work will report the observations and comparison of the irradiation behavior of the alloys, substantiating thus the effect of HT on the radiation resistance of the alloy as well as the effect of temperature on the temperature response in terms of phase stability and radiation induced defects. |
