TPMS lattices are promising for heat exchangers and heat-dissipation components owing to their continuous flow paths and high surface area. Recently, double-wall (DW) designs have been proposed to further increase the surface area and improve heat transfer performance. In this study, single-wall (SW) and DW Diamond/Gyroid TPMS lattices were fabricated from an AlSi7Mg alloy using L-PBF, and their compressive deformation behaviors were systematically analyzed. The SW exhibited higher yield strength than the DW regardless of the unit-cell type. In contrast, the DW showed stable deformation behavior with smaller flow stress fluctuations in the plateau region by mitigating partial collapse caused by initial stress localization. In particular, the sudden load drop observed in the SW-Diamond was effectively suppressed by the DW design. Furthermore, the differences in local deformation, stress concentration, and collapse behavior between the SW and DW designs were clarified through multiscale analysis using DIC and ECCI. |
