Abstract Scope |
Anode effect (AE) is a common failure in the aluminum production process due to the numerous negative influences in electrolysis cells. In this paper, the response of zone anode current to AE was analyzed systematically. The results showed that the zone anode currents in all zones fluctuated dramatically during the occurrence of the global AE. However, in tens of seconds before this, there would always be a zone where the zone anode current first dropped (called the initial response zone, IRZ), with a probability of 59.3% present in the two end zones of the cell, much higher than that in the middle zones. Meanwhile, the probability of the second zone where the zone anode current decreased (called the secondary response zone, SRZ) being adjacent to the IRZ was over 90%. The characteristics of zone anode current changes in the IRZ provides conditions for early warning and intervention of AE. |
