Abstract Scope |
The development of materials is necessary to fulfil new requirements from medical or lightweight applications. The processing of alloys must be optimised, but how could the determination of parameter combinations for heat treatment be accelerated? If we are looking for a process parameter for ageing or recrystallisation, we have temperature and time. Standard techniques are used, which is a time-consuming approach. To reduce the number of combinations analysed, measurements of electrical resistivity are an option. One in situ measurement per temperature over a period of time would be necessary for heat treatments. The resistivity during different treatments is presented for Mg alloys. Changes in resistivity can be easily related to microstructural features during heat treatments. As a result, the parameter space is reduced, and experimental material development can be accelerated. This data also can be used to verify and to optimise the digital modelling. |
