| Abstract Scope |
FeCr alloys are composed of the basic elements of industrial ferritic/martensitic steels and were used to understand the main segregation mechanisms and defect microstructure involved by irradiation. Despite APT can now be considered as very powerful tool to study nanoscale phenomena in bulk, its application to grain boundary characterization remains complicated.. This work will show how important is the EBSD/TKD/APT (Electron Back Scattered Diffraction/ Transmission Kikuchi Diffraction) coupling to fully characterize the segregation at grain boundaries and its response under ion irradiation. TEM and APT measurements of the same grain boundaries before and after irradiation are shown. Both local chemical modification in GBs and loops microstructure near GBs will be presented. Comparison between low angle and coincidence (Σ3) GBs will be shown. Finally, the unexpected observed behavior will be discussed and compared to the previous paper on the subject. |
