The Al-Mg-Si alloy is characterized by low density, high specific strength, and excellent forming and corrosion resistance properties, making it widely tilized in the automotive and aerospace industries. In this study, a mixture of Al2O3, MgO and SiO2 was used as the raw material, and the Al-Mg-Si alloy was synthesized through the molten salt electrolysis method within the temperature range of 600-1200°C. The thermodynamic behavior of the alloy was investigated. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that during the molten salt electro-deoxidation process, SiO2 and Al2O3 from the raw materials reacted with Ca2+ to produce Ca2SiO4/CaSiO3 and CaAl2O4/CaAl12O19. Furthermore, MgO interacted with SiO2 and Al2O3 to yield MgAl2O4 and Mg2SiO4. Among these composite oxides, CaAl2O4 and Ca2SiO4 exhibited the highest thermal stability, necessitating strong reduction conditions for further decomposition. Ultimately, Si, Al, and Mg were successively reduced and diffused within the melt, resulting in the formation of a homogeneous Al-Mg-Si alloy. |
