| Abstract Scope |
304L Stainless Steel forgings are common structural components for a variety of industries. Processing conditions in the wrought bar stock can result in abnormal grain growth and lead to enlarged grains in final forged components. Refining grains through dynamic recrystallization can be achieved through tuning multi-step forging processes. This work investigates a representative forging process using a Gleeble system, characterizing the microstructure through multiple processing conditions. Microstructural evolution and process considerations will be discussed. |
