| Abstract Scope |
We will present a review of fundamentals of 3D metal printing with an emphasis on key technologies such as selective laser sintering, and powder bed and Direct Energy Deposition (DED). We will focus and introduce analytical modeling linking process parameters to microstructures and properties. This analytical methods are applied to one-phase materials systems such as Nickel, Aluminum and Titanium and then extended to two-phase materials systems of Ti64. We will also present results in non-metal 3-D printing for Knee and Hip implants with biomaterials applications. It highlights process innovations, and the application of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (LLM -Large Language Modeling) which are pivotal for fabricating complex, heterogeneous shapes and extension to other materials systems. This review uniquely combines advancements in 3D printing technologies, material innovation, and interdisciplinary approaches to bridge the gap between experimental research and part properties and applications. |
