Abstract Scope |
We introduce a closed-loop, in-situ control system for Liquid Metal Jetting (LMJ) additive manufacturing that combines intelligent sensing with real-time G-code adaptation for enhanced precision in complex geometries. The system adjusts layer height based on mass density (mass/area) and uses a high-speed, contactless 3D scanner for dimensional verification. G-code is dynamically modified every n layers to correct deviations during the build, particularly in overhangs and internal channels—features typically inaccessible to post-process machining.
With micron-level accuracy, the system maintains dimensional fidelity within ±0.5 mm and reduces subtractive correction needs by a factor of four. This is critical for ensuring structural integrity in overhangs and maintaining functional flow in internal channels. Capable of supporting both additive and subtractive processes, the system operates autonomously, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. This adaptive architecture advances LMJ capabilities by enabling the production of precision-critical parts with lower scrap rates and improved functional performance. |
