Bi2Te3 is a benchmark thermoelectric material for near-room-temperature applications. Here, we engineer the microstructure of Bi1.75-xIn0.25SbxTe3 (x = 0-0.2) through the formation of In2Te3 precipitates embedded within a Bi2Te3-based matrix. While In alloying produces elongated lamellar precipitates aligned along the {0001} basal planes, Sb alloying progressively transforms them into spheroidal inclusions. This evolution originates from Sb partitioning between the matrix and precipitates, which increases interfacial atomic mismatch and the associated lattice strain. The resulting control of precipitate morphology provides an effective route to tune thermoelectric transport. Our results underscore the powerful dual role of dopants in simultaneously modifying microstructure, electronic transport, and phonon scattering, offering new opportunities for thermoelectric optimization. |
