| Abstract Scope |
Antimony- and bismuth-based chalcohalides are considered functional materials due to their ferroelectric, photoelectric, thermoelectric, and optical properties, as well as the unique Rashba spin-splitting effect.Investigating phase equilibria in the SbSI–BiSI and SbSeI–BiSeI systems is of interest for the production of substitutional pnictogen solid solutions, which is important for the design of functional materials with tunable properties. To obtain intermediate alloys of the studied systems, the pre-synthesized and identified ternary compounds were co-melted in vacuum and homogenized at 650 K for 500 hours.Based on the DTA, PXRD, and SEM data of the annealed alloys, the corresponding phase diagrams were constructed. It was established that due to the incongruent melting of one of the initial compounds, both systems as a whole are not quasi-binary, but they remain stable in the subsolidus region, forming continuous solid solutions with orthorhombic structure (Sp.Gr.Pnma). |
