| Abstract Scope |
Diffusion coefficients are essential for predicting microstructure evolution and phase transformations during alloy processing. This talk will present a simple and general Z-Z-Z model that accurately describes diffusion behaviors in binary alloys using only a single interaction/fitting parameter. A comprehensive assessment of diffusion coefficients was performed for 50 fcc and 14 bcc binary solid solutions. These systems include alloys with mutual solubility, partial solubility, and those in which one of two elements do not form a stable fcc or bcc phase at ambient pressure. As key inputs to the model, impurity and self-diffusion coefficients are also evaluated, including hypothetical/metastable fcc and bcc diffusion coefficients for elements that are unstable in the corresponding crystal structure. The talk will introduce the Z-Z-Z modeling framework, discuss the evaluation of impurity and self-diffusion coefficients, and show the results of 64 binary alloy systems. |
