| Abstract Scope |
Cold dwell fatigue (CDF) is now a well-known mechanism that can reduce the lifetime of two-phase titanium alloys. Recently, members of the Jet Engine Titanium Quality Committee (JETQC) published an extensive report summarizing the current state of understanding of Ti CDF. This presentation will summarize key aspects of that document and discuss recent learning related to CDF obtained by using advanced characterization methods. Collectively, these tools and methods have provided new insights and continue to advance our understanding of 60+ year old materials like Ti-6Al-4V. |
