About this Abstract

Meeting 2026 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition
Symposium Measurement & Control of High Temperature Processes
Presentation Title Blast Furnace Implementation of PyroLIBS: Real-time Molten Iron and Slag Measurement
Author(s) Bijan Shahriari
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Bijan Shahriari
Abstract Scope PyroLIBS is a next generation device that allows for the continuous, instant and lab accurate measurement of molten iron and slag chemistry. It has been proven in the operating environment for measurement of key species in a blast furnace runner system. In concert with an advanced process control philosophy, the device is expected to unlock value on the order of millions of dollars per year per installation. Results will be discussed.
