| Abstract Scope |
Iron is industrially made from ore via reduction with high purity coke in large blast furnaces at high temperatures. This makes iron production one of the most energy intensive industrial processes. As the demand for iron continues to increase, there is a need to develop alternative methods of iron production. Electrochemical deposition of iron from alkaline electrolytes offers a low temperature approach to iron production near ambient conditions. This study will present the effects of different cathodes on the faradaic efficiency of the experiments. The morphology and structure of the deposited iron will also be discussed.
