Ni-38Cr-3.8Al (wt.%) alloys are promising the applications to the exhaust valve spindles due to its high hot-corrosion resistance and hardness. High strength of Ni-38Cr-3.8Al alloys is originated from the unique lamellar structure consisting of fcc and bcc phases. In this study, Ni-38Cr-3.8Al alloys were fabricated by arc melting then homogenized at 1200℃ for 8 h, cold-rolled, and solution-treated at 1200℃ for 1 h. The annealed sheets were annealed at 600, 700 and 800℃ for 16 h for the precipitation of bcc and gamma prime phase. Vickers hardness tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties of the annealed alloys. An increase in annealing temperature led to a decrease in hardness due to the increase in lamellar thickness and interlamellar spacing. These results indicated that the formation of lamellar structure was significantly affected by annealing temperatures. |
