Abstract Scope |
Metal feedstock powders used in solid-state cold spray deposition exhibit a wide range of mechanical properties and deposition efficiencies due to material type. To recover un-deposited powder particles for re-use in future cold spray, reducing costly material losses, this work implements a cyclone dust collector into the cold spray system to extract and collect rebounded particles. The collected powder was examined for changes in chemical composition, size distribution, morphology, and mechanical properties to determine its viability for re-use in further cold spray processing. Recovered powder was then heat treated to relieve residual stresses and re-characterized to measure the effectiveness of processing. |
