| Abstract Scope |
Real-time imaging approaches are essential for understanding how complex materials evolve under relevant conditions. This presentation highlights the advances in X-ray imaging for non-destructive, multiscale and dynamic characterization of pharmaceutical materials and drug delivery systems, including tablets, capsules, powders, and inhalation devices. By combining rapid overview imaging with targeted high-resolution scans, the workflow enables visualization and quantification of internal features such as particle distributions, coating integrity, pores, cracks, defects, and structural heterogeneity. Recent advances in detector architecture, FAST Mode acquisition, and reconstruction workflows improve imaging throughput while preserving the image quality needed for quantitative analysis. These capabilities support efficient screening of formulation variability and provide a foundation for future time-resolved, in-situ studies of dissolution, stability, and performance. The work demonstrates how laboratory-based X-ray microscopy can deliver spatially resolved insight into pharmaceutical structure-function relationships and broader materials science applications across development, manufacturing, and routine quality control workflows. |
