| Abstract Scope |
Impact of nano-structuring on mechanical properties in various kinds of microstructures of titanium (Ti) alloys will be introduced in the presentation. Equaxed alpha grain structures in pure Ti, Ti-O alloy, and Ti-N alloy, bimodal and martensite microstructures in alpha + beta Ti alloys, and beta grain structures in beta Ti-alloys were refined below 1-3 micro-meters by different types of thermo-mechanical processing. The effects of ultrafine microstructures on mechanical properties were then experimentally investigated by tensile tests at room temperatures coupled with the digital image correlation (DIC), in-situ synchrotron XRD or neutron diffraction, and other techniques. |
