Abstract Scope |
Dr. Jacob Marx currently serves as the Program Manager for the Synthesis and Processing of Materials Program at the United States DEVCOM ARL Army Research Office. He will present an overview of ARL and ARO and describe funding opportunities available from ARO. He will also present the research interests of ARO’s Sciences of Extreme Materials Branch and describe specific research thrusts underway in the Synthesis and Processing of Materials Program. The S&P Program is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of material science by uncovering novel processing pathways and elucidating the underlying mechanics of material synthesis. Through cutting-edge research in microstructural phase transformation, grain growth mechanics, tailoring interfaces of dissimilar materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques, this program aims to decipher the intricate relationships between processing conditions, microstructure, and material properties. A key objective is to develop innovative methods for producing materials that can withstand extreme thermomechanical environments relevant to Army needs. |
