| Abstract Scope |
New synthesis of blue pigments MCuSi4O10 where M=Ca, Sr, Ba and a purple pigment BaCuSi2O6 was done by the reaction of Pyrex ® glass powder, as a source of SiO2 , alkaline earth carbonates MCO3 were M=Ca, Sr, Ba and cupric oxide. The reaction is fast at moderate temperatures of 800-900°C and is complete in a short heating cycle of about 1-3 hours. The talk will present the synthesis, XRD of the materials synthesized, leaching out of residual glass, XRD of the leached materials and IR reflection of the leached pigments |
