Presentation Title 3D Printed Microneedles for Sensing and Drug Delivery

Abstract Scope We have utilized digital micromirror device-based stereolithography and two-photon polymerization to prepare hollow and solid microneedles that may enable direct interaction between a sensor and subsurface tissues or interstitial fluid. Several types of electrochemical and optical sensors have been integrated with arrays of microneedles. In addition, microneedle sensors have been used for the simultaneous detection of several physiologically-relevant molecules or for the simultaneous detection of a single analyte using two methods. Moreover, several efforts have been undertaken to utilize microneedles for transdermal drug delivery. In this talk, recent efforts to enhance vat polymerization-based additive manufacturing of medical devices and facilitate their clinical translation will be discussed.
