Abstract Scope |
A major challenge in advancing additive manufacturing quality assurance is the need for accurate correlation between post-build characterization and in-situ monitoring data. Our research focuses on developing a framework for segmenting porosity in computed tomography (CT) scans and aligning post-build CT datasets with synchronized near-infrared (NIR) and optical imaging acquired during the laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) process. We aim to create composite CT layers that correspond spatially to their respective NIR and optical images. CT segmentation is performed using a contrast thresholding technique, while dataset alignment involves perspective transformations and aberration correction. Ultimately, this integrated framework will facilitate the extraction of feature patterns to characterize build dynamics relevant to process, material and part integrity. |
