| Abstract Scope |
This talk presents the structured efforts of the International Institute of Welding in advancing intelligent manufacturing for welding and allied processes through real-time monitoring, adaptive control, and artificial intelligence. The presentation reviews how IIW has systematically promoted this emerging field through coordinated international activities, including annual symposia on intelligent manufacturing, tutorial and keynote presentations, workshops, panel discussions, topical collections in Welding in the World, and the establishment of dedicated working units. These efforts aim to strengthen collaboration among researchers, industry, and standards communities while accelerating the integration of sensing, data analytics, machine learning, and intelligent control into modern manufacturing systems. The talk also discusses the evolving role of IIW in fostering global cooperation and shaping the future development of intelligent welding and manufacturing technologies. |
