| Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the thermoelectric properties of highly anisotropic Bridgman-grown crystals to enhance energy conversion near room temperature. Focused on p-type SnSe and n-type Bi₂Te₃, the work demonstrates that dilute doping significantly boosts the figure-of-merit (zT) of SnSe from 0.07 to 0.34 (300 – 500 K) by improving carrier concentration and conductivity. In parallel, our n-type Bi₂Te₃ exhibits excellent performance at 323 K, owing to its high electrical conductivity and low thermal conductivity along the growth direction. The pronounced anisotropy in Bi₂Te₃ highlights the importance of controlling crystallographic orientation. Additionally, SnSe single-leg shows enhanced efficiency and mechanical integrity. These results emphasize the potential of anisotropic crystals for efficient thermoelectric generators and coolers in sustainable energy applications. |
