| Abstract Scope |
Multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) have gained significant attention as potential structural materials for advanced nuclear reactor applications because of their promising high temperature mechanical properties. However, the irradiation response of their compositionally complex and multiphase microstructures remains insufficiently understood. This work investigates the microstructural and phase evolution of MoNbTi-based MPEAs processed by spark plasma sintering (SPS) containing equiatomic additions of Zr, V, and Cr both in as processed and heat-treated (1350 C for 48 h) states. The alloys were subjected to 1MeV Kr⁺ ion irradiation in-situ transmission electron microscope to 10 dpa at 25C and 500 C. The in-situ TEM analysis was complemented with ex-situ STEM-EDS elemental mapping. The effect of Zr, V and Cr on the irradiation-induced microstructural evolution, phase stability, defect development, and elemental redistribution across samples is substantiated and discussed as well the effect of heat treatment. |
