| Abstract Scope |
The development of mineralized dental tissues involves complex interactions between matrix organization, biomineralization, and mechanical maturation. To better understand these processes, we are applying a multiscale experimental framework that combines atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy to characterize structural, mechanical, and compositional changes during tooth development in a mouse model. Ongoing studies examine multiple developmental stages to investigate how local tissue properties evolve as enamel and dentin mature. By correlating nanoscale mechanics with biochemical composition, this work seeks to provide new insights into the emergence of functional properties in developing mineralized tissues and establish a framework for studying biomineralization across hierarchical length scales. |
