| Abstract Scope |
The increasing adoption of multi-material lightweight structures in the automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries has intensified the demand for reliable and scalable joining technologies for dissimilar alloys. Simultaneously, the recycling and reuse of joined components are also important from a circular economy perspective. This talk provides a comparative overview of ultrasonic welding, linear friction welding, and explosive welding for dissimilar lightweight alloys, based on recent research conducted by our group. Particular emphasis is placed on process capability, joint quality, and robustness under industrially relevant conditions. Furthermore, a novel disassembly technology developed by our group will be introduced, offering a promising approach for efficient material separation and component reuse at the end of service life. |
